TREE AND PLANT PROGRAM

Since 1941, we've been offering low-cost, high-quality tree and shrub seedlings to Scott County landowners. By adding native prairie seed mixes and live plant kits, there's now something for everyone to help make our county a more beautiful and environmentally friendly place to live!

We offer bare-root tree and shrub seedlings, native prairie seed mixes, and native garden kits for use on your land.  Planting trees and native grasses and flowers not only beautifies your property but also contributes to better water quality and helps to stop erosion.

Rainbarrels can be purchased at the summer plant sale.  It comes with all parts and can be assembled in minutes. Then just elevate it about 18 to 24 inches and place it in a location that catches water off your house's roof, such as under a gutter or drain spout. These brown, barrel-shaped rain catchers can be used with a soaker hose around trees, shrubs, gardens and plantings or may be used to fill up a watering can for potted plants.

Compost bins are also available at the summer plant sale. Made of sturdy, yet lightweight 100% recycled plastic, this 2 piece compost bin will hide unsightly compost piles. Great for an urban yard, the lockable lid will deter animals, and sliding doors on each side allow for easy access to monitor and turn materials.
